Yes, after reaching the senior engineer level, I noticed the levels above (staff+) spend a considerable amount of time in meetings. While I acknowledge the need for such meetings when the company reaches a certain size, meetings drain a lot of my energy and it's not an activity that I can impact the most.
Besides that, more responsibilities will probably bring less work life balance, which is something very important for me right now. Of course you can get more money, but that's not my priority now.
But who knows, maybe I change my mind in the future 😉
