Hello folks, this is the first ever post of Master Mentee. Before I tell you about myself, what to expect from this newsletter, I want to tell you
Why I chose name Master Mentee?
Like many people get confused on deciding book, baby or even business name, I struggled to select name for my newsletter. I want a name that is easy to pronounce, remember and conveys the idea of newsletter content. Basically I was looking for perfection and as Winston Churchill says
Perfection is the enemy of progress
So I picked up Master Mentee from all other names, mainly because it (“Mentee”) creates positive vibes for learning and becoming “Master” among all mentees. There could be name of Master Mentor but I’m not that person. So I chose Master Mentee who always stays as Mentee, like all successful people, while aspiring to become Master Mentee. Now you might be wondering
What to learn from a Mentee?
To answer that, I’ll tell you little bit about myself. I am a software development engineer. Out of my 6 years industrial experience, from 2021, I am working for Amazon, across different deparatments including AWS.
I know I know there are more experience people in the space but I see myself constantly learning and I like to share with others. So I started this Substack to share my learnings, whether that could be from my personal experience, books knowledge, advice from Amazon’s senior manager/engineers or it could be from you. Just to highlight again, I see myself mentee so in some areas you will be my mentor. So,
Why writing now?
I registered on Substack 1 year ago, exactly on October 12th 2023. Here’s the 1st Substack note
In this 1 year, I liked reading individual people’s (instead of professional writers) newsletter and their articles got more and more interesting and insightful. So I got excited with this idea about writing what I know and share the knowledge.
As dream comes true to say this “I never knew I’ll be writer one day”. I think that’s where Substack differentiate where it helps professional writers while creating more and more writers in the world which is really good thing. Benjamin Franklin once said
Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing
In my case, I’ll try to write every week that is worth reading, otherwise it’s (by default) gonna be later part of the quote : ).
If you make it till this part, I am appreciate it. Hopefully you learn something from my articles. As a mentee, it’s my duty to keep this newsletter free and accessible for everyone. Also, no one asks money from their mentors. Last thing to say, you all are my mentors so I encourage to share your wisdom with me.
Great 👍🏻 congrats 🎉
